  • Validate at least 12 months of work experience specific to the product owner accountability within the past five years

Certification Process

  • Attend an A-CSPO course delivered by a Scrum Alliance-approved education provider
  • Successfully complete all components of the A-CSPO course, which may include pre-course or post-course work as required by the educator
  • Accept the A-CSPO license agreement and complete your membership profile on the Scrum Alliance website

Certification Renewal

  • Earn SEUs: Accumulate 30 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) through learning, events, or Scrum-related activities.
  • Log into Scrum Alliance Account: Access your account on the Scrum Alliance website.
  • Submit SEUs for Approval: Upload and submit SEU evidence aligning with Scrum Alliance guidelines.
  • Pay the Renewal Fee: For latest fees refer the Scrum alliance website
  • Complete the Renewal: Once SEUs are approved and payment is made, your certification renews for two years.

No, there is no exam for the A-CSPO certification. Completion of the course and active participation in all activities are required to earn the certification.

The relationship between a product owner and a scrum master is complementary, not hierarchical. The product owner focuses largely on the product—defining what the team should build based on customer and stakeholder feedback. The scrum master focuses on the team—helping the team members work together effectively to build the product using the scrum framework, solve problems, and continuously improve their processes.

To maintain the certification, earn 30 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) every two years and pay the renewal fee as applicable

You must hold an active Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and have at least 12 months of work experience as a Product Owner in the last five years.
